Physical findings seen in those patients with nuisance-type symptoms are similar to the findings of chronic rhinoconjunctivitis and asthma.
Ocular: Puffiness, redness, tearing.
Nasal: Boggy mucosa, clear to colored discharge, crusting of mucous, mucosal excoriation.
Sinus tenderness.
Oropharynx: Mucous discharge, redness.
Cervical Lymphoid tenderness (slight). Lymph nodes not enlarged.
Tympanic membranes may be retracted. Air-fluid levels may be noted.
Lungs: May have end-expiratory wheezes or rhonchi.
There are no unique physical findings to assist one in the differentiation between an environmental disorder and other more common disorders of the respiratory tract.
